It is with great pleasure that we announce the promotion of Rico Laijas to the position of Survey Manager, replacing Dave Ellis who made the decision to retire at the end of 2016. Rico has been working with Sherwood Surveying & S.U.E. for 12 years. As an active project manager of the Surveying department, he oversees and has experience providing surveying services and field data for the design and construction of renewable power projects, high voltage transmission lines, roadways, land planning and construction project in both the public and private sector.

Floresville high school.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to design houses.
What was your favorite show, growing up?
World wrestling federation.
What was your first job?
IHOP dish washer in the morning, SHONEY’S waiter at night.
Before M&S, what was the most interesting job you’ve ever had?
Valet for a night club.
How do you like working at M&S?
Love working here.
How have you seen your tasks change since your promotion?
Learning and understanding the full aspects of budgets and profitability is the main change.
Is there anything you wish you had more time for?
More time to go to church with the family.
Where would you like to lead Sherwood Surveying & SUE in the near future?
I’d like to manage and be a part of multiple branches of Sherwood Surveying & SUE at our other offices.
What is the strangest thing you’ve seen at work?
Snakes under my desk.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Hawaii….so my wife will stop asking me to take her there!!!

Favorite movie is “Man on Fire”.
What’s the best advice you have ever received?
Try and be the hardest working person you know.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’d like to enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping more.

Hard work pays off.

Myself, 15 years ago….to give myself advice.

I’ve been married for 11 years….I have 5 kids….19 year old son (adopted), 17 year old son (adopted), 4 year old daugher, 2 year old daughter, 10 month old daughter………..when I got married I told my wife I did not want any kids………apparently I’m not in charge!!!!
