Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles – KPF Associates
Derek’s scope included working on exterior lighting around the museums, which were a large set of color changing in-grade lights along the bottom and a lot of color changing lights located at the very top. He administered several calculations to show how the lighting would appear. See the image on the left for fixture locations.
Xiqu Centre for the Performing Arts in Hong Kong – Bing Thom Architects
This project is a performing arts (dance, opera, etc) building currently in construction in Hong Kong. Derek worked on both the exterior and interior front-of-house lighting. He ran calculations on the façade’s plating, the atrium’s belly (visible from the outside, the curved surface), the upstairs lobbies, and main theatre. Derek also worked with the engineer on providing emergency calculations as required by international codes.
